Summary
The Mitchell 31 has always been regarded as the 4X4 of the seas. This is due to her robust construction and excellent sea keeping qualities. She is a good, safe vehicle from which to catch cod. The cockpit space is huge and provides an ideal platform for up to 8 anglers. Engine is a Ford Sabre 6-cylinder diesel which has completed 2,333 hours and starts on the button. Added bonus is the 2-berth cabin, galley with full oven and the heads with sea toilet. This allows the possibility of overnight trips to fresh angling spots. Comprehensive electronic navigation package including radar, DSC VHF radios, colour chart plotters and depth sounders.
Mechanical
Vessel powered by a 6-cylinder Ford Sabre inboard diesel. PRM reduction gearbox driving a stainless steel shaft and 4-bladed bronze propeller. Engine is mid mounted and is accessed from a hinged hatch in the cockpit. This access allows all round access for daily checks and servicing. Last service was in April 2025.
Single lever morse engine control. Key start. Full engine instrumentation including rev counter, hour meter, oil pressure and temperature.
Electrical
Bank of 3x12V batteries providing engine start, bowthruster and domestic power. These are recharged via the engine alternator, onboard battery charger or the solar panels fitted to the wheelhouse roof. The batteries are fitted with a rotary style battery selector switch. Also fitted are visual readouts for each battery showing the current voltage.

Timber storage lockers port and starboard in cockpit. Large foredeck with fighting chair. White GRP wheelhouse with locking wheelhouse door. Windscreen with wipers. Great all round visibility from helm.
