Summary
One of the last Contessa 34OOD to be built. Built by Jeremy Rogers of Lymington to a Doug Peterson design in 1981. 'Sky Flash' offers 7 berths over the saloon and forepeak. She is currently set up for single handed sailing so will suit a cruising couple who like going fast. Powered by a Yanmar 3GM30 inboard diesel. 12/240V systems have been upgraded and the batteries were replaced in 2024. She has a comprehensive suit of sails including a Jeckells furling genoa and Yankee jib purchased in 2024.
Rigging was inspected in 2024 and the forestay was replaced. All running rigging replaced in 2024. Vessel was ashore late 2024 for antifoul so she is good for the rest of this season.
Mechanical
Vessel is powered by a reliable and efficient Yanmar 3YM30 inboard diesel engine. Engine is situated beneath the companionway steps allowing easy access for servicing and daily checks. The last service was in May 2025 ready for the season.
Engine start panel in the companionway with key start, rev counter and modern push button stop. Engine is believed to have completed less than 1000 hours.
Reduction gearbox driving stainless steel shaft and 2-bladed folding propeller.
Electrical
12/240V systems onboard. Bank of 4x12V batteries providing engine start, electric windlass and domestic power. All batteries brand new in 2024. Rotary style battery selector switch fitted adjacent to engine start panel in companionway. Batteries recharged via the engine alternator or plug in battery charger. New shore power connector with cable. 3-Pin sockets.
Rigging
Keel stepped aluminium spars with masthead sloop sail plan. Stainless steel standing rigging which was inspected by local rigger in 2024 with a recommendation to change the forestay. The Facnor roller furling headsail system was serviced at the same time as changing the forestay. All running rigging is braid on braid and was replaced in 2024. Slab reefing mainsail mounted in lazybag on boom. Vessel rigged for spinnaker including associated rigging, winches and pole.
Self-tailing primary winches for genoa sheets. Secondary winches mounted aft in cockpit. Halyard and spinnaker sheet winches mounted on coach roof. Genoa tracks with adjustable cars on side decks.
Sail plan is currently set for single handed sailing.

Accommodation
Below decks has excellent headroom and provides berth for 7 crew over the saloon and forepek. Currently used for single handed sailing this yacht will also provide comfortable accommodation when on long range racing or overnight at club regattas.
Galley on port side with top loading fridge. This can also be used as a freezer if required. Plastimo Neptune 200 gas fuelled oven with 2-burner hob and grill. Stainless steel sink with pressurised hot & cold water, Plentiful storage for provisions.
Opposite the galley is the forward facing chart table with chart storage, 12/240V switch panel and electronic navigation aids. Large quarter berth aft.
Saloon with settee berth to starboard and a removable and hinged varnished saloon table. Additional berth above. Opposite on port side is a further settee berth and another berth above.
Forward of the saloon bulkhead is a heads compartment with sea toilet, sink and shower. Opposite is a hanging space. In the bow is the large sail handling locker/forward cabin. The berths hinge upwards giving more room for the sail handling crew.
Excellent headroom throughout. Upholstery in excellent condition. Diesel fired cabin heating.
Construction
GRP constructed yacht with navy blue topsides, lead fin keel and spade rudder. Large cockpit with locker storage, deck drains and tiller steering. Transom with stainless steel bathing ladder.
Grey painted side decks and coach roof. Electric windlass with chain locker below. Stem head fitting with offset bow roller. Under water areas anitfouled in 2024 ready for the 2025 season.
Stainless steel bow and stern rails with stanchions and double set guard wires.
Hull to deck join finished in aluminium toe rail.
