Construction
Hallberg-Rassy 42E centre cockpit cruising yacht designed by Enderlein and built by Hallberg-Rassy Varvs AB, Sweden, in 1984. Build # 85
Hand-laid GRP (glass reinforced plastic) hull of solid laminate construction below the waterline, heavily built to Hallberg-Rassy's renowned Scandinavian offshore cruising standards. The hull is finished with a white gelcoat and incorporates a distinctive blue sheer stripe. Hull-to-deck joint is mechanically fastened and bonded, providing exceptional structural integrity and watertight security.
The deck, coachroof and cockpit are moulded in GRP with balsa-cored sandwich construction to provide strength, rigidity and thermal insulation while minimising weight aloft. Side decks are protected by substantial teak toe rails and stainless-steel stanchions supporting double stainless-steel guard wires. Teak decking was replaced in 2006.
A deep, secure centre cockpit provides excellent protection for crew when offshore, with high coamings and substantial grab rails. The cockpit is self-draining and fitted with large locker spaces and dedicated gas bottle storage. Teak grating to cockpit sole.
The yacht features a long fin keel with encapsulated ballast, providing excellent directional stability and offshore performance. A fully protected skeg-hung rudder offers additional strength, directional control and protection against grounding damage.
The interior structure is extensively bonded to the hull, with substantial bulkheads and furniture components forming part of the vessel's overall structural integrity. Traditional Hallberg-Rassy craftsmanship is evident throughout, with varnished mahogany joinery and high-quality timber fit-out.
All deck hardware is through-bolted with backing plates where required. Stainless-steel stemhead fitting, bow roller assembly, pulpits, pushpits and boarding arrangements are designed for long-distance cruising and offshore use.
The vessel was designed and constructed as a blue-water cruising yacht, combining robust construction, seaworthiness, comfort and long-range cruising capability.
*Ashore in March 2026 for hull antifouling and anode replacement.
