Summary
Rare opportunity to purchase an authentic American built Sports Fisherman. The Luhrs 340 Sport is an excellent example of such craft which were designed for trophy fish hunting. It even has a Marlin spotting tower and if the eco doom mongers are to be believed, it won’t be long before we will be seeing these fish in our waters.
Powered by twin, recently serviced Detroit V8 diesels, remote controlled bow and stern thrusters making her a joy to handle. Comprehensive electronic navigation package including Raymarine C80 with radar, Raymarine DSCVHF and a Lowrance fish/depth sounder to name a few
With berths for 4, well equipped galley and heads with shower, she is the ideal weekend retreat and vehicle to explore new fishing grounds.
Mechanical
Independence is powered by twin Detroit V8 diesel engines. The engines were installed in 2009, replacing the original petrol models. Most recent service was in late 2025 when all oils, filters, anodes were changed. The engines have also had a ‘Super Charge Oil Treatment’ additive which enhances the viscosity of the engine oil and improves oil pressure and compression.
Port engine has a brand new alternator. Engines are housed beneath the lower helm position allowing easy access for servicing and daily checks. Fuel capacity is in the region of 800 litres giving plenty of range. Vessel will comfortably cruise between 18 and 20 knots, depending on sea conditions. Upper and lower helm positions with changeover switch.
Reduction gearboxes driving stainless steel shafts and three bladed bronze propellers. Propellers were refurbished in 2024.
Electrical
12/240V systems on board. Bank of 4x12V batteries providing engine start and domestic power Engine batteries were both replaced in 2025. Batteries are fitted with isolator switches and are recharged either by the engine alternators or the shore power. There is also a 3500W, 12-240V inverter with dedicated socket in wheelhouse.
Shore power cable.
