Summary

The Princess 414 was a natural progession from her predecessor the Princess 41. Designed by Bernard Olesinski, who had been designing craft for then competitor Fairline Boats. His clever designs maximised onboard comfort whilst providing a safe and stable platform from which to enjoy our wonderful UK coastine and beyond. The versatility of this boat suited both the family boater or cruising couple, and the appeal is still there today.
'Cassiopeia' is well equipped and maintained. Her engines are Volvo Penta TAMD60B offering 225hp each side. Comprehensive electronic navigation package including autopilot and radar. Spacious accommodation with owners, ensuite cabin aft, deck saloon, galley, dining area and enormous fore cabin. Diesel generator allows more remote areas to be explored.
As well as being a premium coastal cruiser she would be ideal as a liveaboard.

Mechanical

Vessel powered by twin Volvo Penta TAMD60B inboard diesel engines developing 225hp at 2800rpm. She will cruise happily at 1800 rpm giving a speed between 14-15 knots depending on tide, equipment carried and how clean her bottom is. Reduction gearboxes with shaft driven 3-blade bronze propellers. Shaft seals replaced in October 2025.Engines have completed 1278 hours and have been regularly maintained. Most recent service completed in May 2026. Engine access is through the access hatches in the saloon floor allowing for servicing and daily checks. Full engine instrumentation at both upper and lower helms. Twin lever engine controls.

Electrical

12/240V systems on board with a bank of 4x12V batteries providing engine start, generator start and domestic power. Batteries are fitted with key style selector switches and are recharged by the engine alternators or by the onboard Mastervolt battery charger.
All cabins, saloon and galley fitted with 240V outlets. 12V charging port at helm. Shore power with cable. Generator will provide 240 power if moored in remote areas or on an unserviced marina berth.

Accommodation

Vessel can sleep 7 adults with double berths located in the forward cabin convertable dinette and ensuite owners aft cabin. Further berth in upper saloon.

The saloon is entered from the raised aft deck. To port is a very comfortable horseshoe seating area with well upholstered seating. On the starboard side is a series of deep storage cupboards. Occassional table can be moved to wherever suits giving flexibility when entertaining. At the forward end of the port seating area is the raised inner helm position with a double helm seat, navigation area and electronic instuments.

Moving aft from the saloon is the rear ‘Owners’ ensuite cabin. Beautifully finished in warm coloured wood cabinet work with high and low level storage cupboards. There is a large island double berth with reading lights and deck head lighting. En suite heads compartment with sink and sea toilet with holding tank on port side and a seperate shower room on the starboard side. Hanging wardrobes and dressing table with mirrors. Storage cupboards on either side of berth. Heating outlets.

Returning to the saloon and moving forward is the galley on the starboard side. This area features an electric oven with 3-burner hob and grill. Electric microwave above. Front loading fridge with ice compartment. Hot and cold pressurised water heated by either the engine or calorifier. Storage cupboards and shelving.

Opposite the galley is the dining area which can sit 6-8 persons in comfort. This area will convert to a large doble berth if required. Large day heads can be used by those staying in the dinette berth or the forward cabin. This has a Jabsco marine toilet, sink unit and shower with pump out.

In the bow is the enormous double V-Berth cabin with infil. Without the infil this can accommodate two adults as single berths if required. Large wardrobes and lots of drawers and cupboards.

Construction

Built by Marine Projects of Plymouth in 1983 to a Bernard Olesinski design. Semi displacement hull constructed in GRP with white topsides. Underwater areas antifouled in 2025.
Bathing platform with ladder access to aft deck. Aft deck with storage boxes and removable cushion tops. Good sized wide side decks lead to flush foredeck with electric windlass and chain locker.
Upper helm position with helm seat and additional seating. Flybridge cover.
