Summary

Built in 1962, this is a good example of the classic South Coast One Design - SCOD. It was designed by Charles Nicholson in 1955 for a group of Island Sailing Club members who wanted an affordable, fast cruiser/racer. The design was intended to be used for both racing and cruising.
Firecracker has most recently competed in the Round the Island Race.

Accommodation

This SCOD was designed with cruising in mind so has a traditional layout below. To Starboard there is a Plastimo Neptune 3000 two burner gas cooker and grill, and plenty of stowage for crockery. To port, underneath the navigation station is a single sink with manual pumped cold water.
The saloon provides two settee berths with a folding table and cupboard storage either side.
Forward is the traditional heads with Baby Blakes head and a hanging locker opposite.
In the bow is a double V berth.
Upholstery is green in colour and she benefits form the traditional wood interior which gives a warm and cosy feeling.

Construction

Carvel wood construction using planked mahogany on steamed Oak timbers on a mahogany keel stem and stern post with iron ballast keel and wooden transom hung rudder
