Construction

Carter 30, 9.1 m monohull sailboat designed by Dick Carter and built by Northshore Yachts in 1985.

This IOR-derived cruiser was from the prolific and innovative board of American Dick Carter. Northshore Yachts built the first batch as racers, with a large cockpit and bigger sailplan, but when racing success dried up, the company produced a second version with a smaller cockpit, less sail area and a fully-fitted interior with a conventional but effective five-berth layout. In this format she was well built and finished, and made a good fast cruiser with excellent handling.

GRP hull, deck, and superstructure
Fin keel with skeg rudder

Stainless steel pull pit

Stanchions and guard wire

Owner's Comments

VERY reluctant sale but need to change due to growing family.

She’s easy to sail. We bought her from her one previous owner who was a local boat builder and mechanic. She’s been cared for and we dried her out and antifouled with 2 year self-polishing antifouling last year (see drying out picture), so she’s good for this season.

We’ve cared for the engine, changing the oil, filters and anodes regularly. We’ve treated the fuel we use and always warmed the engine before making way. She has a full sail wardrobe, but we’ve only sailed her in fair weather as a family, so we’ve only used the main and genoa.
