Forward, the forepeak provides a traditional V-shaped berth, offering comfortable accommodation for one or two adults, with useful storage around and beneath the berth. Moving aft, the main saloon has comfortable seating along both sides, which can be used as two single berths when required. The saloon provides a light and sociable living space, with the accommodation arranged to make good use of the yacht's generous beam. Central table with drop leaves.

To port is the aft facing navigation station, incorporating a good-sized chart table, electrical switch panel and VHF radio. Immediately aft is the separate heads compartment, providing useful privacy and practicality. The heads is fitted with a recently replaced SeaFlo electric flush toilet and wash hand basin, supplied with pressurised cold fresh water.

Opposite, to starboard, is the L-shaped galley, conveniently positioned adjacent to the saloon. The galley is has an electric hob, Subcold fridge, and a stainless-steel sink with pressurised fresh water supply.

The private aft cabin, situated to starboard, provides a generous single berth and useful personal space, making it an attractive feature for owners or guests looking for additional privacy aboard.

Overall, the accommodation is typical of the thoughtful and practical interior layout for which the Horizon 26 was designed, combining a surprisingly spacious saloon with separate heads, well-appointed galley, private aft cabin and useful forward accommodation.

Construction

An interesting early example of the popular Hunter Horizon 26, this 1985 bilge-keel yacht was supplied by Hunter Boats in kit form and privately fitted out by her original owner. Hunter provided the professionally moulded GRP hull and deck, allowing the purchaser to complete the interior, systems and equipment to their own requirements.

Designed by renowned yacht designer David Thomas, the Horizon 26 was developed from the successful Hunter Delta 25 and introduced a raised coachroof and unusually spacious accommodation, including a separate aft cabin and heads compartment. Her deep, efficient bilge keels provide good sailing performance while retaining the practical advantages of a bilge-keeler, including the ability to take the ground upright.

The combination of a robust GRP hull, practical twin-keel configuration and generous accommodation made the Horizon 26 a particularly successful British coastal cruiser.
